Amazingly sustainable
Crickets consume exponentially less water than beef (1:2000), chicken (1:600), and even soy proteins (1:3). They require less feed and land for growth and can even be grown vertically! Studies have also shown that cricket farming substantially reduces the emission of greenhouse gasses when compared relatively to cattle or pigs. Lastly, crickets are fantastic eaters. At farms across the world, crickets devour organic waste (like banana peels and rice bran) which keeps their footprint at a minimum.
A natural superfood
Per gram, crickets provide more protein than any of the more common proteins, including lamb, beef, fish, and chicken. Crickets contain all 10 essential amino acids including taurine, commonly missing in plant-based proteins, making them a complete protein for dogs. They're also full of nutrients, including vitamin B, calcium, potassium, and omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
Food allergen friendly
Counterintuitively, many of the most popular ingredients in conventional dog foods are the most common food allergies to dogs (beef, soy, chicken). In contrast, insects are an unlikely food allergen for dogs (though it’s not impossible, thought to be around 2%) and our products contain no gluten, soy, or dairy; there’s no wonder why many think insects are the perfect solution for the dog with hay fever.

SO, WHAT'S THE STORY AGAIN?
We’re dog owners who found themselves confused at the current offering in the industry. Why are beef and chicken the primary proteins when they are the most common food allergens? Aren’t these proteins terrible for the planet and aren’t we rapidly approaching the threshold for farmable land and resources? In short: is there a way we can make this category better?
So, that’s we created Arch to develop a clean answer for these questions. As a company, we hold a few things close to our heart, and hopefully yours:

We worked with specialized veterinarian nutritionists and a team of pet consumable consultants to create recipes that are excellent for your dog while also achieving our goal of removing as many allergens as possible in our treats and food.

About Arch
We’re dog owners trying to the best by our dogs, friends, and community. Founded in 2022, there’s a lot of Chicago stuff happening at Arch. For one, we’re comprised of mostly uChicago MBA students (with a Northwestern grad co-founder). More importantly, we have dogs from local shelters, buy from local vendors, and have a medium-strong adversion to ketchup on a hot dog. We hope to keep our connection to the community inherent to the brand and welcome your feedback on how we can best represent Chicago, Illinois, and the pet community at large.
